Lunabotics Design Project 2012

Project Overview

An interdisciplinary team consisting of mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and computer science majors will design and implement a robotic lunar regolith excavator, which will compete in the 2012 NASA Lunabotics Mining Competition at the Kennedy Space Center in May 2012.The excavator will have to runs, each 15 minutes long to navigate an obstacle area and reach a mining region where it must collect and deposit as much regolith as possible. The robot can be controlled wirelessly using an 802.11 network or autonomously.
